  • Tim Tebow

    Tim Tebow

Tim TebowThis “virtuous” homeschooled American football player has played for both the New York Jets and the Denver Broncos. As well known for his Christian faith and kneeling on one knee in prayer during games, Tebow is widely tipped for a career in television. After a lengthy legal battle, the quarterback even managed to trademark the term “Tebowing” in October 2012 and his philanthropic efforts continue to earn him great respect. Certain British footballers ought to pay heed.

  • Danny Cipriani

    Danny Cipriani

Danny CiprianiThis London born rugby player’s mum learnt ‘The Knowledge’ and worked as a taxi driver so she could send him to a private school. Cipriani has no connection to the restaurant and hotel empire of the same name, but his model girlfriend, Kelly Brook, “sent a message” to him by dining at the London outpost when they split in 2010. After the pair were reunited in the spring of 2013, he was injured after being hit by a bus during a drunken pub crawl in Leeds. Of the incident, he commented: “I can’t believe I am not dead… I am a very lucky boy”.

  • Sandi Toksvig

    Sandi Toksvig

Sandi ToksvigIn 2013, this Danish-British former Liberal Democrat author and presenter stated: “The Duchess of Cambridge lacks a single [relevant] opinion”. The nation were far from impressed. “Toxic Toksvig”, as some refer to her, is a Cambridge educated lesbian and mother of three whose works number Hitler’s Canary and Heroines & Harridans. She started her career on the appropriately named Motormouth and once stated: “When I see comedian – and ‘comedienne’, of course I hate it – I think ‘Oh, really?’ because I think of myself as a writer and broadcaster”. Miaow!

Best known as the host of Bullseye between 1981 and 1985, Bowen’s back in the limelight as many suggest he’s a lookalike of the new Pope. His BBC Radio Lancashire show was axed in 1999 after he referred to a guest as a “nig-nog” and in 2003 he launched a stand-up comedy DVD named You Can’t Tell These Anymore. Nothing, however, will ever “Beat a Bit of Bully!”

  • Anna Wintour OBE

    Anna Wintour OBE

Anna Wintour 350Her Evening Standard editor father was known as “Chilly Charlie” and she’s become “Nuclear Wintour”. This New York based Brit states that she’s “lost count” of the number of times she’s been attacked by activists and once retaliated by sending anti-fur campaigners a plate of roast beef when they picketed her Condé Nast offices. In her youth, Wintour went to parties with the Daily Mail’s Nigel Dempster, dated older men and set her stall out clearly in the remark: “You either know fashion, or you don’t”. Now, this divorced trendsetter has morphed into a grande dame and hidden behind her sunglasses and a pageboy bob, this powerhouse of fashion truly does deserve the title: “Unofficial Mayoress of New York”. The Devil Wears Prada may have indeed been based on her, but the reality is far more salacious.

  • Ben Howard

He states that he “doesn’t really believe in fame” and nor is he into fashion either: “If I tried to be fashionable I’d look like a twat”. We like his style.

Neil Hamilton: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times asks writer, broadcaster and entertainer Neil Hamilton: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times shares “wit and wisdom”. What’s your guiding force?

    Christine.

“Don’t get even, get medieval” is, in our humble opinion, a great motto. What’s yours?

    If you say so dear.

  • Judy Finnigan

    Judy Finnigan

Judy FinniganThis former daytime television presenter is now a novelist who somewhat ambitiously compares herself to Dame Daphne du Maurier. Better known collectively with her second husband as just “Richard and Judy”, Judy Finnigan has been beset by rumours about her love of alcohol for many years. She didn’t exactly help put a stop to such by setting up a wine club whilst co-presenting Channel 4’s Richard & Judy show but having retreated to Cornwall to write, she now also “doesn’t want [to hear] comments about her looks anymore”. Here is an example of someone who would do well to follow the mantra of: “If you don’t like the heat, keep off the publicity trail”.
