    It’s as fucked up as the Donald himself.

     

    What phrase or word do you most loathe?

    ‘Trivial’ as in German nobody uses it and most people don’t understand it. I loathe ‘trivial’ for being a ‘non-trivial’ word to describe something ‘trivial.’

     

    In the UK, some people consider charity to “begin at home.” What’s your view and what causes do you personally support?

    I support mainly environmental causes. It is not that I think that humans deserve it less, I just think sending money to developing countries won’t solve the problem and is just an easy fix for many people to feel good about themselves.

     

    The judge in Law Abiding Citizen states: “I can pretty much do whatever I want” before being blown up whilst answering her mobile phone. What’s your view on the appropriate use of such devices?

    Try to use it less, fail miserably in doing so and then tell yourself you’re gonna do better next year.

     

    If you could fill a carriage on The Orient Express, who would be your fellow passengers?

    My family and Barack Obama and Steve Jobs and Nelson Mandela if they were still alive.

    If you were unfortunate enough to end up on death row, what would be your last meal and where would you eat it?

    A special home-made roast.

     

    What time is it acceptable to consume the first drink of the day?

    It depends on the situation.

     

    A Negroni, a martini or a cup of tea?

    A Negroni of course.

     

    Whose parties do you enjoy the most and why?

    Parties of friends that I don’t spend too much time with. There are always new people to get to know.

     

    Who is the most positive person you know?

    My dad.

     

    What’s your most guilty pleasure?

    Chocolate of course. I’m Swiss.

     

    If a tattoo were to sum you up, what would it be of?

    It would be a Kickscooter, of course.

     

    If you were a car, what marque would you be?

    What a question: I’d be a Microlino!

    Big companies and governments. They are slow and inefficient in dealing with global warming.

     

    Oliver Ouboter is the co-founder of a start-up alongside his father and brother that has developed a small electric city-car named Microlino. He is considered one of the best guinea pigs as his dad invented the world-famous Kickscooter in 1999.

    Matthew Steeples suggests the BBC’s decision not to appeal the Cliff Richard privacy ruling is very worrying for press freedom

     

    News that the BBC have decided not to challenge the Cliff Richard privacy ruling is not surprising but it also sets a worrying precedent.

     

    In a statement, aside from apologising yet again to the plainly strange Christian crooner, the Corporation thankfully, however, announced they would be taking its case to a higher level and stated:

     

    “The BBC is writing today to ask the Government to consider a review of the law in this important area to protect the right to properly and fairly report criminal investigations, and to name the person under investigation.”

     

    “There is a fundamental principle of press freedom at stake here and one upon which we believe Parliament, as our lawmakers, should decide.”

     

    They are quite right and given this ruling is tantamount to new legislation, this ultimately will go down in history as taking Britain down a very dangerous road.

    Used as a police college from the 1950s until 2013, Bramshill House, near Hook has permission to be returned to a single family residence with a colossal total size of 56,974 square feet. Described as “one of England’s great stately homes,” the proposed accommodation that could be created – after a supposed additional expenditure of £10 million on refurbishments on top of the £10 million asking price – would include 10 reception rooms and 10 bedrooms. Additionally, there would be a 126-foot long gallery, a cinema, gym, a wine cellar, a disco and even a chapel.

     

    Bramshill was built in the early 17th century by Baron Edward la Zouche (1556 – 1625), famed for his lone vote against the condemnation of Mary Queen of Scots, and is described as being of the Italian Renaissance style. It was later occupied by the 2nd Baron Brocket and the exiled King Michael and Queen Anne of Romania before being acquired by the British government in 1953.

     

    Sold in 2014 to property developers City & Country in 2014, the estate – then totaling some 262 acres – was sub-divided and now Knight Frank are the agents for the mansion and 92 acres of Grade I registered parkland.

    Left-wing firebrand Polly Toynbee does an about turn and brands government in Britain today worse than under her arch-enemy Thatcher in the 1980s

     

    Polly Toynbee was always amongst the loudest voices of the left in Britain. She has been known to rant and rave in support of atheism, the SDP and unilateral nuclear disarmament but on Saturday, this great-great niece of philanthropist and economic historian Arnold Toynbee surprisingly branded the government of Theresa May to be worse than that of Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s.

     

    In a wide-ranging interview about working at The Guardian, when asked: “How does this political moment compare with others you have lived and worked through?” Umbrian villa owning Toynbee answered:

     

    “There has never been an austerity like this in my life-time. If Thatcher’s 1980’s cuts seemed savage, I would never have guessed a future Tory party would go so much further than she dared, in shrinking the state, crushing local government, squeezing the NHS as never before, leaving schools bereft. As for the shock Brexit vote, it has split the country in half in ways it may take decades to repair, if ever, as it sends Britain into a downward spiral. These are the darkest days I have known – plenty to write about, but very hard to think of optimistic themes.”

    Grime and hip hop artist Stormzy should be saluted for using his fame to do good; the vile harpy Amanda Platell owes him an apology

     

    Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. – better known by his stage name Stormzy – used his fifteen minutes of fame after winning the best album and the best male artist at the Brit Awards for the good of others.

     

    Using the evening’s final performance, the grime and hip-hop artist rapped:

     

    “Yo Theresa May, where’s the money for Grenfell? What, you thought we just forgot about Grenfell? You criminals, and you’ve got the cheek to call us savages, you should do some jail time, you should pay some damages, you should burn your house down and see if you can manage this.”

     

    He added:

     

    “MPs sniff coke, we just smoke some cannabis; So don’t get me for this, so be woke; This year I am dishing out Ls for free smoke; You tell us that we’re thugs, I try to bust a myth; But someone tell the Daily Mail that they can suck my…”

     

    The opposite of the cowardly and self-loving members of ‘The Club’ that includes the likes of the withering old crooner Sir Elton John and his moaning titleless husband David Furnish, Stormzy has since continued to communicate his campaign in the days since. Communicating to his 1.18 million followers on Twitter, he encouraged the nation to sign a petition to take action to support the victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy and as of 11:50am Saturday over 130,000 people had signed a petition calling for a parliamentary debate.

     

    Elsewhere on Saturday in the Daily Mail, the acid tongued Australian harpy Amanda Platell demanded: “[Stormzy] show a scintilla of gratitude to the country that offered his mother and him so much instead of trashing it.” This self-declared “dear friend” of the paedophile Rolf Harris should be ashamed of herself; Stormzy has used his fame for the good others whilst she is simply known for taking the dirty money of the nastiest newspaper in Britain.

    The government’s cowardly response in full to the petition follows:

     

    The Grenfell Tower fire was a truly unimaginable tragedy that should never have happened.

     

    The Government’s highest priority remains making sure that survivors, bereaved families and the wider Grenfell community receive all the support they need.

     

    The independent public Inquiry into the fire is an important part of the process and will help those affected get the answers they need to get to the truth of what happened.

     

    The Prime Minister committed to considering the issue of panel members once the Chair had confirmed who had been appointed as assessors to assist the Inquiry. Section 7 of the Inquiries Act 2005 allows the Minister responsible for an inquiry to appoint further panel members during the course of an inquiry with the agreement of the Chair.

     

    In October 2017, the Chair announced the appointment of 7 expert witnesses with backgrounds in fire safety, forensic fire analysis, fire engineering, disaster resilience and also anatomy and human identification. The expert witnesses will provide a range of technical advice and expert reports to assist the work of the Inquiry in delivering its terms of reference.

     

    In addition, in November 2017, the Chair announced the appointment of 3 assessors with backgrounds in community engagement and social housing, local authority administration and structural engineering. The Chair also confirmed at the Inquiry’s preliminary hearing in September that he would expect the assessors to see all the evidence and sit with him when taking oral evidence. The Chair has also confirmed that he may make further appointments if needed.


    Following the announcement of these appointments, the Prime Minister carefully considered the composition of the Inquiry panel in light of the diversity and expertise of advice now available to the Inquiry.

     

    The Prime Minister wrote to the representatives of the survivors and bereaved families on 21 December 2017 and informed them of her decision not to appoint additional panel members. The Prime Minister’s decision was similarly communicated to the Inquiry on the same date.

     

    Having regard to the terms of reference and the assistance to be provided by the assessors, and the expert witnesses, it is the Prime Minister’s view that the Inquiry panel has the necessary expertise to undertake the Inquiry as it is currently constituted. The Prime Minister is also conscious of the need for the Inquiry to complete its initial report as quickly as reasonably possible. The Prime Minister therefore considers that additional panel members should not be appointed at this stage.

     

    In reaching this conclusion, the Prime Minister fully took into account her duty under section 149 of the Equality Act 2010 (the Public Sector Equality Duty – PSED).

     

    The Government recognises the importance of ensuring that those most affected by the tragedy are able to contribute fully to the Inquiry and that is why the Prime Minister welcomes the consideration being given by Sir Martin Moore-Bick to the establishment of a community advisory panel, as proposed at the December procedural hearing.

     

    Such a panel, similar to that which has worked well for the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, could play a very beneficial role in putting those most affected at the heart of the Inquiry and enabling them to ensure that their views and experiences are heard. It is for Sir Martin, as Chair of the independent Inquiry, to take this forward, in consultation with the Grenfell Tower community, and the Government hopes that he will be able to do this as soon as possible.

     

    In line with the Inquiry Rules 2006, legal representatives of the Grenfell community core participants will receive in advance of hearings disclosure of relevant evidence; will be able to make opening and closing statements at certain hearings and can suggest lines of questioning to be pursued by Counsel to the Inquiry. They can also apply to the Chair to ask questions of a witness.

    Man of substance George Soros broke the Bank of England and now he looks set to break Brexit.

     

    Whilst many would argue his first action to be a bad thing, what he now seeks to achieve would be brilliant for Britain (if indeed he and others pull it off). As Theresa May’s car crash of a government plod on with negotiations with the EU in a cackhanded fashion, today, Soros penned an article for the Mail on Sunday and announced:

     

    “I consider Brexit a tragic mistake… Brexit is a lose-lose proposition… [It has] split British politics between young and old. Even though I am 87, I think a lot about young people who will live in a future I will never see. People under 35 voted overwhelmingly Remain and it was only over 55 that a majority of voters supported Brexit.”

     

    “Old voters have overruled young voters who will have to live with the consequences of Brexit for decades ahead. This is aggravating the disillusionment with democracy among young people. It also raises the prospect that Britain will eventually want to rejoin the EU.”

     

    “The doors of Europe may be open in the future, but if Britain leaves now it will never be able to rejoin the EU on the same favourable terms.”

     

    “I am a proud supporter of Best For Britain, a group that wants Britain to remain a member of the European Union… Best For Britain seeks to break the logjam by bringing together all the various forces that are united by their aspiration for Britain to remain part of Europe. It has my wholehearted support.”

     

    Accused by some of being an “interfering foreigner,” self-described “confirmed Anglophile” Soros has put his money where his mouth is. In donating £400,000 to the anti-Brexit cause, he has drawn a line in the sand and hopefully others will follow his lead. It is time to #ExitBrexit and it is time for the 48% to rise up and be counted.

    Kushner-Trump mouthpiece Andre Walker’s attack on Meghan Markle was an utter disgrace; it is time that this warped weirdo was called out for what he truly is

     

    Unsurprisingly yesterday, the self-declared “fat Northern bruiser” turned Jared Kushner’s London based mouthpiece Andre Walker appeared on Sky News to defend Donald Trump’s “right” to retweet far right fake news shared by Britain First’s deputy leader Jayda Fransen.

     

    Elsewhere on Tuesday, slug-like Walker – an extremely sad excuse of a man who’ll forever be linked to his associations with the scandal linked to the ‘Tatler Tory’ Mark Clarke, the suicide of a Conservative activist named Elliott Johnson and his previous position at Steve Bannon’s bigoted Breitbart – decided to brand Prince Harry’s fiancée “a black woman in Buckingham Palace… [who] will have to bite her lip rather than supporting her old acting friends in the causes they love” in an article for the Kushner owned New York Observer.

     

    Going further and referencing those describing Meghan Markle as “just another Hollywood liberal who will speak out on a few issues she cares about while ignoring the needs of the country,” Walker argued “she will face the merciless wrath of the British public” over having once tweeted “lamenting the resignation of David Cameron as Prime Minister” and declaring her “opposition to Brexit.”

     

    Bizarrely referencing how “no one wants another Royal [sic] divorce” and stating: “After all, she did not make her first marriage work,” truly negative Walker plainly illustrated his belief that this is a union that will not last. He bizarrely also concluded: “In their first television interview [Prince Harry and Miss Markle]… It felt like the two of them had been sent to remind the world that the British Royals [sic] like all black people, especially the ones they rule!” He is wrong and the world should celebrate the fact that Prince Harry is to marry Meghan Markle, a lady of conviction and stature.

    London set to see number of police stations reduced from 149 in 2010 to just 32 by 2020; we urge readers to support a petition to stop this

     

    In 2010, London had 149 police stations; there are now just 73 and if Conservative plans go ahead there’ll be just 32 – or one per borough, except for Westminster – by 2020.

     

    Theresa May as Home Secretary focused on flogging off places where the public could report crime and now as Prime Minister, her government is determined to remove community assets in favour of encouraging people to report crime online, to the 101 telephone number and in cafés and retail shops.

     

    Finding a bobby on the beat, another suggested alternative, is nigh on impossible in many areas and here we urge readers to sign the Kensington Society’s petition to save Notting Hill Police Station. Their ‘Police Campaign’ is a revelation and makes for utterly shocking reading. Shame on our government for not providing the resources to properly protect its citizens.

    Author and travel writer Sarah Tucker visits Madagascar and laments its future

     

    Every year I’m sent press releases that tell me I should visit a place before it loses what makes it special. Vienna, the Maldives and Istanbul have all been on the “go before they go” itinerary, but Madagascar had never been one of them.

     

    The reality is Madagascar is disappearing fast, or, alternatively put, the uniqueness of Madagascar is disappearing fast. The rainforests there have been transformed into terraces of paddy fields cut in huge swathes, with piles of bricks made of the red clay from the soil which fed those magnificent forests, where the indigenous lemurs sing and dance. And they do.

    I spent fifteen days there with adventure travel experts Explore and travelled over 1,000 miles across the island. I found that my visit left me with emotions as intense as Hurricane Irma hitting at Force Five.

     

    On the east, it is cool and wet and the forests are still thriving. WWF and other ecologists like Patricia Wright, who discovered a new breed of lemur back in 1997, have made some headway against a corrupt government and ancestral traditions which verge on the quirky to the downright cruel. All cultures have such but, indeed, whilst visiting Madagascar – which is undergoing some sort of industrial revolution – I saw much of the fault in my own culture and its own quirks and cruelties.

     

    On the east coast, it is hot and arid, and more like the Africa I know, but therein lies the tragedy. And it is a tragedy. Once the rainforests have gone – and they will go soon – there will be nothing unique about this special island.
