As some ‘Guardian’ readers attempt to move on from marmalade, others demand the “marmalade saga” is allowed to continue on the letters pages
Readers of the Guardian have been banging on about marmalade now for months. In a most endearing series, which we’ve occasionally chronicled ourselves, they’ve discussed different types, having the time (or not) to make it and even suggested it can beat coronavirus. Longevity and marmalade attracted an especially significant amount of attention.
This week, however, the love-hate affair with marmalade came to a head. Whilst one reader, Dr Anthony Isaacs, wrote in to urge people to move on to pickles and jams, another, Claudia Campbell, demanded the matter doesn’t “come to a sticky end.”

Oh no! Please don’t let the marmalade saga come to a sticky end. The letters page is the first thing I turn to these days in the hope of sharing the joy of marmalade with others. After Seville marmalade comes three-fruit marmalade and after that comes lemon or lime. The show must go on! (I’m not an octogenarian but my husband is 86 and he helps me cut up the rinds.)
Did Sheila Caffell shoot herself once or twice or was she murdered by her bother Jeremy Bamber? New evidence is revealed
On the eve of the final episode of ITV’s White House Farm airing, fresh doubt has been raised as to whether Sheila Caffell was the victim of murder or whether she was the perpetrator of a murder-suicide.
This morning, the Guardian revealed that lawyers for Jeremy Bamber – who is serving a whole life sentence for murdering his adoptive parents Nevill and June Bamber, his sister Sheila Caffell and her twin sons Daniel and Nicholas Caffell – have discovered in archives a number of statements that contradict the claim that Sheila Caffell was shot twice before police entered the crime scene at White House Farm, near Tolleshunt D’Arcy in Essex.
In summary, “the newly discovered statements show that before the Essex Police photographer began taking crime scene photographs at the scene at 10.20am on 7th August, illustrating that Caffell had sustained two gunshot wounds, five senior officers and the police surgeon had seen Caffell and suggested there was only one wound,” according to the Guardian’s Simon Hattenstone.
Speaking to the paper, Mark Newby of Quality Solicitors Jordans for Bamber – a man whom has never ceased protesting his innocence – remarked:
“The jury only heard of the two shots, which was relied upon by the crown to support their case, but this wasn’t the whole picture. It represents yet another significant aspect to this case which supports Jeremy Bamber and undermines this conviction.”
At the very least, alongside the alleged evidence relating to whether movement was sighted inside the farmhouse whilst Jeremy Bamber was outside with police, the contradictory telephone records and the contradictory evidence relating to silencers, there is indeed now a level of doubt in this case that makes it worthy of reinvestigation.
Michael Barrymore’s bizarre rant prior to Channel 4’s documentary about the death of Stuart Lubbock proves him a lying maniac; the crazed nutjob has now also blocked ‘The Steeple Times’
During the screening of Barrymore: The Body in the Pool, the television personality India Willoughby announced to her 38,000 followers on Twitter: “I find Michael Barrymore as convincing as Prince Andrew.” She was 100% spot on and in the hours prior to the documentary airing, the vile concealer of the truth and disgraced entertainer piled yet more misery on the family of Stuart Lubbock – the victim of murder in his very own swimming pool – by taking to Instagram to pathetically moan that he was getting “bashed” and “bullied” by the media.
Barrymore (born Michael Parker) – a cretin who lied when he claimed he could not swim – went further in his 1:21 minute rant and aside from whingeing that he hadn’t (rightly) been given an advance viewing (since he refused to cooperate with the filming), this tawdry turd of a person delusionally announced:
“The truth is, I’ve always done everything asked of me… Watch the ITV interview with Piers Morgan [for which he was disgustingly paid £60,000]… He left no stone unturned… I have cooperated with everyone [one could add: “Apart from the police and the Lubbock family”] and I have had nothing to do with this [Stuart Lubbock’s death] whatsoever.”
Michael Barrymore took to Twitter and Instagram on Thursday afternoon prior to the airing of ‘Barrymore: The Body in the Pool’ to rant and rave about he was being unfairly treated. Diddums.Anything but the “mansion” it gets lauded as, 4 Beaumont Park Drive, Roydon, Harlow, Essex, CM19 5HB – The grubby looking pool where one of those present at Michael Barrymore’s after-party of deviants murdered Stuart Lubbock.Michael Barrymore – a man who cannot face people questioning his disgraceful behavior – has blocked both Matthew Steeples and ‘The Steeple Times’ on Twitter.Essex Police is finally doing the decent thing and have issued a reward in conjunction with Crimestoppers to get “the breakthrough that we need” and justice for the Lubbock family.
The bombshell documentary itself was very painstakingly put together over 18 months and is a must watch. Of this well researched television show, on Twitter, one user, Michelle Gladstone, joined the many reacting with fury and remarked: “Watching this program [sic] is making my blood boil. Of those people at the party, at least one of them knows the truth about how Stuart died. How can they live with themselves, keeping the truth from the Lubbock family?” Another, Amanda Clarke, added: “How bloody dare Michael Barrymore blame NHS staff for that poor man’s injuries. Say what happened liar.”
Elsewhere on social media this morning, Barrymore has taken to blocking anyone who dares to question what went on on the 31st March 2001. In doing so this scumbag simply yet again proves himself for exactly what he is: A shameless coward who now jolly well better man-up and answer the most important question of all: “Who present that night murdered Stuart Lubbock?”

Michael Barrymore is a man with no heart. Aside from no doubt encouraging Twitter to suspended Terry Lubbock, the father of the man who died in his swimming pool, the disgraced entertainer has now taken to Instagram to like comments attacking a Channel 4 programme about the matter as “parasites.”
Barrymore – who happily accepted £60,000 to appear on Piers Morgan and admit that he knows more about what happened that night than he has ever told police, but would not agree to face Terry Lubbock in person – should be utterly ashamed of himself.
A father of two it is now believed was murdered on 31st March 2002 at this ghastly individual’s home. At least nine people were present including the victim, Stuart Lubbock, and Barrymore, in the most cowardly fashion, fled the scene before the police arrived. It is time he stopped behaving so abhorrently and it is time he told the truth.
Barrymore: The Body in the Pool airs on Thursday 6th February at 9pm on Channel 4.

Stuart Lubbock was MURDERED claims new detective investigating his death in Michael Barrymore’s swimming pool; his father, meanwhile, has his Twitter account suspended
This Thursday on Channel 4 at 9pm, a new documentary will air about the death of Stuart Lubbock on 31st March 2001 in a swimming pool at the home of the since rightly disgraced ‘entertainer’ Michael Barrymore.
Barrymore: The Body in the Pool will feature new allegations from a police detective, DCI Stephen Jennings, that Lubbock was raped and deliberately murdered and thus will set in motion a new investigation into the case of a man found with severe anal injuries.
As we reported in September 2019, many questions remain unanswered in this case and of the nine present that night, according to Barrymore – a man disgustingly paid £60,000 for an interview with Piers Morgan in which he declared as much himself – honesty has never been their policy.

Speaking to the Daily Star and declaring he will be making a “fresh appeal for people to step forward to help find Stuart Lubbock’s killer,” DCI Jennings stated:
“I believe very much that Stuart Lubbock was raped and murdered that night. he scene was secured but not to the standard that we would expect, hence the reason that people were allowed back in there, and we know items have now gone missing. After we’d managed to photograph the scene, items have gone missing and we’ve never seized them.”
An unnamed spokesman for Essex Police added:
“In the aftermath of Stuart’s death on March 31 2001, a forensic assessment was carried out of the scene at the house in Roydon over the proceeding days. This included the capturing of photographs and video of the scene.”
“During that process two items recorded as being within the scene – namely a thermometer and pool door handle – went missing.”
“As these items have never been recovered and forensically tested their evidential importance is not known and it cannot be ruled out that they were used to inflict injuries upon Stuart.”
Elsewhere on Twitter this morning, Stuart Lubbock’s father, Terry, has bizarrely had his account suspended. We say shame on Michael Barrymore – who cowardly fled the scene before police arrived to investigate the death – for likely having caused this occurrence.

‘The Steeple Times’ remembers the late, great Woolf Gander
A businessman who travelled widely across across the globe, Woolf Gander was born in 1937 in London Hospital and sadly died just before Christmas.
A father of three – Beverley, Andrew and Adam – and a grandfather of three – Olivia, George and Victoria – Woolf was known for his wit and could often be found at the bar at the much missed La Brasserie in South Kensington. He regularly remarked on articles in The Steeple Times and was a fine example of a bon vivant.
Woolf’s favourite saying was “let’s get the show on the road“ and today at his funeral in Epping, he’s just about to play the final act. He will be greatly missed by many.
Ferne McCann yet again shows herself to be nothing but a vile opportunist; she should be taken off our screens
Ferne McCann undoubtedly proved herself a horror in 2017. On the day Arthur Collins, her former boyfriend and father of her child, was jailed in December that year for hurling acid over 22 innocent people in a nightclub, she took to Instagram to promote a lip plumping primer.
Aside from been paid for that and having also named her child ‘Sunday’ – Collins carried out his attack on a Sunday – McCann has since lied about visiting her ex in prison and ridiculously returned to presenting on ITV’s Loose Women programme.
Posting to her 2.2 million followers recently, McCann shared an image of herself with another national horror, Sir Cliff Richard, and over the weekend appeared in the Mail Online. In an article titled: “Ferne McCann lets her hair down as she flashes her racy lingerie in ripped tights during boozy Christmas party,” the paper shared images of this pissed-up wench posing in her knickers and hosting a party at The Langham Hotel. They simply provided illustration of how out of touch from reality this Essex harlot truly is.
Meanwhile, yesterday, in Medway, Kent, a moaning Minnie named Charlotte Day contacted the Mail Online to complain about how she’d not been able to nab a loaf of bread in a Tesco Extra store.
24-year-old healthcare assistant Ms Day – no doubt paid for her pathetic non-story by the newspaper – claimed “customers were barging past each other” and ridiculously bleated:
“Shoppers were walking around with a panicked look on their faces. Some people had six or seven loaves in their basket.”
“People were pushing around, they weren’t being polite about it. I went to grab the last loaf and someone who already had six in their trolley took it, the shelves were empty. I couldn’t believe how busy it was.”
That this woman was prepared to go to the press about a bit of bread is bad enough, but that people are expiring their last breaths on the pavements of one of the richest countries in the world is utterly outrageous. Shame on Charlotte Day and shame on all of us.

1931 Bentley Tourer nicknamed ‘The Harem Saloon’ because of its first owner’s penchant for taking spins with his lady friends for sale for £1.15 million
A 1931 8-litre Bentley Tourer that got the nickname ‘The Harem Saloon’ because it was first used by a Chinese Mau owner to take his girlfriends to the races in Singapore is on sale at a price of £1.15 million ($1.54 million, €1.30 million or درهم5.67 million).
The magnificent machine, which was subsequently kept in a mine during the Second World War and then eventually rebodied as a gentleman’s tourer in 2002, retains its original bonnet and scuttle but has effectively been completely rebuilt.
Described as having “very good long legs on the motorway and also around the country lanes without the need of an overdrive,” the car is said to have “behaved impeccably with no problems” on “numerous trips down to Le Mans” and is now offered by Richard Biddulph of Vintage & Prestige Classic Cars of Grays, Essex.

Matthew Steeples reports that Jeremy Corbyn’s attempt to enthuse a child in Harlow didn’t go down well; children and politicians should never mix
Yesterday, Jeremy Corbyn headed to Harlow, Essex. He gave a speech to an assembled audience – including a woman with an upside down Labour poster – and then picked up a child and tried to charm it.
After I noted on Twitter that “the poor kid’ll be scarred for life #Awkward”, the child’s mother, Chloe Pullara, responded: “That’ll be my baby. It was an honour to meet @jeremycorbyn”.
In a video also shared by Ms Pullara, Corbyn is seen asking the child: “Are ya’ alright then?” It hid behind its coat and did not look in the slightest amused.
Chloe Pullara, a lady whose Twitter handle features the caption “proud to be the 48%”, plainly ignores the fact that Jeremy Corbyn’s party is backing Brexit as, in another tweet, she then added:
“So I just got to meet our future PM @jeremycorbyn. The most wonderful man who made time for each and every one of us”.
