Actors William Roache and Michael Le Vell in court on the same day
Soaps are meant to be more dramatic than reality. In the case of the nation’s longest running series, however, it’s the personal lives of the actors that have actually become more tawdry. (more…)
William Roache is charged with five counts of indecent assault
Things are not looking for good for Coronation Street’s William Roache. His friend Owen Oyston, several of whose businesses he also happens to be a director of, was jailed in 1996 for rape and more recently his other friend and fellow director, Stuart Hall, admitted to being a paedophile. Yesterday, Roache was charged today with five indecent assaults on girls aged between 11 and 16.

A fourth ‘Coronation Street’ star stands accused of abuse
The ITV soap Coronation Street was first broadcast in 1960. It was meant to be representative of the lives of ordinary people.
Now, with the Daily Mail revealing that a fourth cast member has been accused of “very inappropriate behaviour towards a girl”, the Rovers Return Inn frankly instead looks like a pit of epic disgustingness.
As a William Roache waxwork is defaced, his friends announce that he fears being attacked himself
The actor who plays Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow, William Roache MBE, is due at Preston Crown Court tomorrow. Mr Roache, who has been charged with two counts of raping a 15-year-old girl in the 1960s, supposedly also fears that he could be the victim of a vigilante attack.
This Manchester born former Coronation Street actress has a penchant for footballers and was once described as “Britain’s dumbest celebrity” by The Sun. In May 2013, of convicted paedophile Stuart Hall, she commented: “I just think, that’s an 83-year-old man, you could give him a heart attack. Have some respect”. Previously she shared a photograph of herself on Twitter featuring an image of her posing with a gun to her head just after the US Sandy Hook massacre. On another occasion, she pressed “like” on a series of pictures of emaciated girls on the “thinspiration” website. Asked why, her response was: “I thought the pictures I liked on Instagram were private until now”. This village idiot would do well to keep quiet.
William Roache, better known as “Coronation Street’s” Ken Barlow is arrested over allegation of the rape of an under-age girl
Recently, we reported on remarks given by Coronation Street actor William Roache MBE to a New Zealand television programme about people who have committed child sex crimes. Roache bizarrely said that the public should be “totally forgiving” of such individuals. This morning, he was arrested over an allegation that he raped an under-age girl in Lancashire between April and July 1967.
William Roache MBERoache once stated: “I’ve slept with 1,000 women”Police officers were photographed outside William Roache’s home, The White House, Meadow Way, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 6JL, this morning
Mr Roache is the grandson of a Freemason who was interested in hypnotism, theosophy and esotericism. He is himself a vegetarian and spiritualist and was photographed participating in Druid rituals in the 1970s.
The actor gained the nickname “Cock Roache” after openly admitted to having slept with over 1,000 women and also happens to sit on the board of Oystons Estate Agency with the television presenter Stuart Hall OBE. Mr Hall is currently awaiting trial on three counts of indecent assault between 1967 and 1986 whilst the company’s founder, Owen Oyston, was jailed for six years in 1996 after having been convicted of rape.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police commented:
“We take all allegations of sexual abuse extremely seriously and would encourage people with any information about sexual abuse, or anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, to come forward and report their concerns confident in the knowledge they will be investigated appropriately and with sensitivity”.
Former Coronation Street actor Andrew LancelCoronation Street’s Kevin Webster, Michael Le Vell
Currently two other Coronation Street actors, Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, and Andrew Lancel, who played Frank Foster, are awaiting trial on child sex charges. Le Vell, also known as Michael Turner, will go on trial at Manchester crown court on 2nd September 2013 whilst Lancel, also known as Andrew Watkinson, will see his trial commence at Liverpool crown court on 3rd June 2013.
They do say the truth is often stranger than fiction and it does indeed seem like the lives of these Coronation Street actors are more dramatic off screen than they are on it.
