James Foley (1973 – 2014)
This twice kidnapped “man of courage and dignity” was a “miner of truth” who bravely reported from war zones. Photojournalist James Foley was born in Rochester, New Hampshire and killed by a cowardly hooded ISIS executioner in Syria. As his friend and fellow Libyan hostage Nicholas Hénin commented: “He stayed upright and dignified to the end”. -
Tim Walker
The Telegraph’s ‘Mandrake’ columnist is a man not afraid to take on the establishment. Together with his now former colleague Richard Eden, Walker’s diary extensively featured stories about the charitable activities of Lady Meyer in 2011 and made a fool of the PR for Mastercard after they told him what he was to tweet in exchange for tickets to the Brit awards in February 2014. Walker also finds time to write theatre critiques and occasionally makes it onto the stage himself also. In Spamalot, this talented journalist played God and of Gillian Duffy, he once tweeted: “What I loved about Gillian Duffy – & this country – is that an OAP on her way to get a loaf of bread can bring down a PM”. Dent’s witty weekly Evening Standard column ‘Grace and Flavour’ is a must read as her acerbic commentaries about London’s best and worst eating spots are just brilliant. She has nearly 200,000 followers on Twitter and has also written eleven novels. -

This big-haired fashion blogger and presenter views Ralph Lauren and Michael Jackson to be his “style heroes”. Born in the Horn of Africa and London based, this University of the Arts London graduate has been called “one of the best dressed men in the country” by GQ and an “up and coming star of the future” by Gay Times magazine. To save on damaging his barnet, Cassius supposedly never wears T-shirts. -

Gaby Hinsliff
We’ve got nothing against this respected journalist and writer, but when we heard that the fashion mag Grazia had a “Political Editor at Large” we thought it was April Fool’s Day. Hinsliff also blogs at usedtobesomebody.blogspot.com and states that she resigned as political editor of The Observer to go “in search of a life.” She’s based in Oxfordshire and published her first book, Half A Wife, in 2012. In it, she advises on “how to balance a happy, healthy family life with the demands and rewards of work.” There are plenty out there who ought to pay attention. -
