Malavath Poorna

Malavath Poorna

Malavath PurnaThe youngest girl to have reached the summit of Everest, Indian Malavath Poorna scaled the world’s highest mountain in May 2014 at the age of 13 years and 11 months. Of her success, she modestly commented: “I come from a very poor family… Climbing the Everest was certainly more difficult than I thought – but my willpower to prove that a tribal girl can do something kept me going”. She aims to become an Indian Police Service officer and also wants “to climb more mountains around the world”. Surprisingly she has just 50 followers on Twitter.
