Bastille Day at La Brasserie

Bastille Day at La Brasserie was a jolly affair

The 14th July is to the French what 4th July is to Americans. It’s a day to celebrate and at London’s first all day brasserie, La Brasserie, Bastille Day is taken very seriously.

With the staff dressed in traditional costumes, red, white and blue balloons and coq au vin by chef Robert Malyon and pastis – a French anise-flavoured liqueur and aperitif – on the menu, “Fête nationale”, as it is formally called, commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération and the storming of the Bastille a year earlier.

Situated in the heart of South Kensington, La Brasserie – opened in 1972 – has long been popular with both the area’s substantial French community and visitors alike.

A happy Bastille Day from all at The Steeple Times and all at La Brasserie.
