Previously marketed for the much higher price of £5.4 million ($7.9 million or €6.9 million) in 2012, ‘French National Treasure’ Piaf retreated to the property after the death of her married, boxer lover, Marcel Cerdan, in 1949 and died there from liver cancer aged just 47. It now features 4,500 of living accommodation with four bedrooms and four bathrooms in the Provencal style main house, three guest suites and a two bedroom guardian’s cottage. It has a heated swimming pool with a pool house and summer kitchen, a gym and sauna, an all-weather tennis court and a boules court and stands in four acres of land. An additional two acres with planning permission for a double garage is available by separate negotiation.
