Second claim against Clarke

Second claim against Clarke - Investigative news website ‘Exaro’ report that Kenneth Clarke is under investigation for a second claim of indecent assault

Investigative news website ‘Exaro’ go it alone and report that Kenneth Clarke is under investigation for a second claim of indecent assault

Last Thursday, Ben Fellows was cleared of attempting to pervert the course of justice by falsely claiming that the widely respected politician Kenneth Clarke MP had indecently assaulted him. Now, the investigative news website Exaro have revealed that they have won a “battle to lift [an] order for [a] reporting ban on [a] separate” second allegation against the former Chancellor of the Exchequer.

The Right Honourable Kenneth Clarke CH, QC, MP

In an article published late Saturday, Tim Wood of Exaro quoted the judge in the Fellows case as having remarked: “The [second] complaint relates to a man who alleges when he was 14 he was subjected to a serious indecent assault by two men, and one he later recognised as being Ken Clarke” whilst, of the decision to lift the ban on reporting this matter, Mark Watts, Editor-in-Chief of Exaro, added:

“Our main argument was that the judge simply had no power to extend the order just because there was an ongoing police investigation into the other allegation”.

“I am glad the prosecution eventually agreed. A matter of enormous public interest was raised in open court, and our readers and the wider public have a right to know what was said”.

Clarke, who buried his wife of 51 years last month after she sadly succumbed to cancer, now awaits the outcome of an investigation that is being conducted by South Yorkshire Police. It is being described as “ongoing”.

As of 8:30am Sunday 2nd August, no other mainstream news outlet has reported on this matter.
