January – Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff sent a bizarre email to NBC defending his actions. It won’t make any difference to his life and he will die in jail.February – The Steeple Times exposed the nonsensical story of Alan and Katrina Lane, a couple from Sandbanks, Dorset, after they falsely told the Daily Mail they were sleeping rough at Heathrow Airport.March – A Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman belonging to the cannibalistic dictator Jean-Bédel Bokassa, head of state of the Central African Republic and subsequently the Central African Empire from 1966 until 1979, went on sale for £225,000.
