Picture of the Week: Flooding Clooney

Flooding Clooney – The home of Mr and Mrs George Clooney could potentially be flooded – The Mill House Sonning Eye Reading RG4 6TW

As the Berkshire bolthole of George Clooney is hit by the latest round of flooding, we imagine he’ll be turning to his favourite Nespresso phrase: “What else?”

George Clooney paid around £10 million for his ‘British bolthole’, The Mill House at Sonning Eye, on the banks of the River Thames in 2014 and now he has sadly found himself joining the many who’ve been devastated by floods in recent months.

George Clooney, pictured with Jack Black, might now find the “What else?” catchphrase he uses in Nespresso adverts useful as way to describe the troubles he’s had since buying The Mill House at Sonning Eye in Berkshire

The actor and his new wife, human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, previously caused great controversy after their plans for elaborate CCTV systems and renovations and extensions to the Grade II listed, nine bedroomed mansion upset locals. The scheme was attacked as “inappropriate and unsympathetic” and despite its scope having been reduced, criticism has continued unabated.

Sadly, Clooney now faces the effects of a washout that has already consumed much of his garden. In a potentially worse situation, The Thames is expected to rise further in the next twenty-four hours and ultimately, this fine, newly restored residence could also end up submerged. Of this property, he’ll no doubt be soon found mumbling: “What else?”
