Readers based in London’s Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea will no doubt have seen the area’s famous ‘Parrot Man’. In Herne Bay, Kent, an equally well-known parrot that loves to mimic the EastEnders tune named Monty has gone missing.

In an advertisement placed on Gumtree, the 15-year parrot’s owners David Hampton and Janet Walder are appealing for Monty’s safe return with a £700 reward. They state:

“He does the telephone really well, then says: ‘Phone Janet, phone Janet, phone, phone, phone’. He loves the EastEnders theme tune and does it even when Emmerdale comes on. There are tunes we whistle, he does one line, we do the next and so on… He loves grapes, toast with lots of butter and even chicken. He pretends to pull his claws out when he is asking for something”.

Anyone who sights Monty the parrot, should contact the couple on +44 (0) 778 918 214.
