Hall's Dragon

Rachel Elnaugh shares some rather strange views on Stuart Hall’s sentence on Twitter

As it is reported that jailed paedophile Stuart Hall is facing another seventeen allegations of sexual abuse, The Steeple Times was surprised to receive a series of tweets from the former Dragons’ Den panelist Rachel Elnaugh stating her surprise at the sentence he’d received.

Rachel Elnaugh

Elnaugh, whose Red Letter Days business went into administration in 2005, told us that she “[doesn’t] believe in the word ‘victim’ [as] it’s very disempowering” and argued that those who accused Hall should have come forward “decades earlier”. Equally worrying was that the businesswoman appeared to lament Hall having been sent to jail at all in a comment which read: “The man is now 83”.

Elnaugh’s views on ‘victims’

Elnaugh has sympathy for “all those involved” (which bizarrely presumably includes Stuart Hall and his family)

When we suggested that, as a public figure, Elnaugh might perhaps understand why the abused had been scared to make allegations against the “powerful monster” Hall, she replied: “I have sympathy for all those involved”.

Thank goodness this misguided Dragon wasn’t on the panel to decide Hall’s sentence.
