The Jaguar XJS was undoubtedly one of the cars that personified 1980s excess and was a favourite of the “gin and Jag” set. It appeared in such series as Howard’s Way and now an especially fine example is to be sold in Denmark by Silverstone Auctions on 28th May 2016 at their Classic Race Aaarhus sale.

Offered with an estimate of £15,500 to £18,600 ($22,400 to $26,900 or €20,000 to €24,000), this particular 22-year old XJS Celebration is one of the final models in the range and made to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar company. It has a 4.0-litre V12 AJ16 with coil-on-plug ignition engine, is presented in a triple-black colour combination and is capable of 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 143 mph.

Dry stored in the United States in recent years, the four-owner 1994 car to be auctioned was shipped to Belgium recently along with one hundred other vehicles destined to join a private collection. That collection is now being rationalised and as a result what its auctioneers describe as a “stylish big Jaguar” is “once again ready to be enjoyed”.
