The Snottiest Restaurant in The World

New York restaurant that Googles any wannabe diner to see if they are rich enough has to be the most snotty dining spot in the world

Fleming by Le Bilboquet is a New York restaurant that doesn’t share its phone number online. It doesn’t have anything at all on its website other than a button which you can hit to email its management (at [email protected] if you dare) and supposedly its staff are instructed to check up on any ‘applicant’ before deciding whether to consider letting them in.

Seating about twenty covers only, “clubby bistro” Fleming by Le Bilboquet’s staff, the New York Post reported recently, instructs its staff to “pull up each unknown guest on Google.” They even give their staff a page long document title: “Fleming Hostess Reservation Protocol” and of their reasoning one waiter told the paper: “We want to keep the restaurant for special people only.”

Asked what makes someone “acceptable,” another employee answered simply: “[They have to be] rich.” They say money and taste don’t necessarily go together; Fleming by Le Bilboquet is indeed the restaurant that personifies such. We won’t be urging our readers to bother frequenting it.

The website of Fleming by Le Bilboquet is devoid of any information about its menu, management and modus operandi. All it gives away is an email address where ‘applicants’ can write in (most likely to be rejected).

  1. I remember the days when the restaurant on Chelsea Green, London, Monkey’s, used to put the bounced cheques of customers in the window. That place was far more fun than this pit will ever be. I can tell you that from experience as a lady who has lived in both London and New York.

    • Well said Jackie. I used to be a resident of Lucan Place (round corner) and frequented Monkey’s with family/friends often.
I bet this New York eaterie does not have so much ‘class’!

  2. If I can get us a table, will you take me to dinner there? Not before Thanksgiving…I’ll be in the South of France until then xx
