Curried Cliff

Curried Cliff - Sir Cliff Richard visits Barnsley curry house Elachi after being re-interviewed by South Yorkshire Police over allegations of historic against two boys in the 1980s

After Cliff Richard was re-interviewed by police this week, what did he do? He headed off for a curry and said he would be returning to South Yorkshire again

Last night, as it was revealed that Sir Cliff Richard had been re-interviewed by South Yorkshire Police over allegations of historic abuse against two boys in the 1980s, the Sheffield Star published an image of the Christian crooner at a curry house in Barnsley.

Sir Cliff – who has previously been photographed with, amongst others, Lord Boothby, Max Clifford, Ronnie Kray and Sir Jimmy Savile – is reported to have enjoyed “a medium strength mixed curry” at a restaurant named Elachi in the Hoyland area of the town and “promised to come again”.

Described tactfully (and without mention of the abuse allegations) by the restaurant’s owner, Shahoor Ali, as being in the area “on private business”, Sir Cliff plainly has prepared himself for a return visit to South Yorkshire. “He was really pleased with the meal and said he would be back”, remarked Mr Ali.
