Billing Against Brexit

Billing Against Brexit – As a restaurant popular with politicians adds anti-Brexit slogans to its bills, it must be highlighted that the hospitality industry is entirely dependent on immigrant workers.

On Tuesday, inews reported that a restaurant in London’s County Hall, the Westminster Kitchen Grill Bar, now adds anti-Brexit slogans to its bills.

Featuring a declaration that: “Brexit is bad. Immigrants make Britain great. They also cooked and served your food today,” this “snappy, amusingly provocative missive” was the brainchild of the restaurant’s owner Ibrahim Dogus.

Lambeth deputy mayor and Waterloo councilor Mr Dogus – who came to Britain as a Kurdish refugee in 1994 and now owns three restaurants in Waterloo and on the South Bank – told inews:

“Brexit has been bad for small businesses, including my restaurants. It has caused problems for my European colleagues and staff.”

“There has been a lot negativity around immigration. I believe immigration has been good for UK and it is a crucial part of the British economy and culture.”

“I thought we can add our voices to receipts – it’s a small gesture.”

Given that in London the majority of restaurant workers are immigrants, what he highlights is vitally important. Brexit will indeed be bad for business and we need to put a stop to it now.
