Back to the ‘70’s

Back to the ‘70’s – La Brasserie, 272 Brompton Road, London, SW3 2AW – 1970s menu – 21st November 2016

Chelsea institution La Brasserie was packed out for its 1970s prices birthday party

At La Brasserie on Monday, a great time was had by all at both lunch and dinner and the place was utterly packed. Prices reverted to 1970s levels and with onion soup at £1.44 a bowl and coq au vin for just £2.95 nobody moaned about being overcharged.

The staff, all kitted out in 1970s garb, got into the spirit enthusiastically and Angelo Vizcaino and Alhaji Kanu were especially popular with the selfie-loving set.

Amongst diners were Jackie Branston, Andrew and Trisha Cox, Charles Delevingne, Alex Foley, Stephanie Grainger, Heimir Helgason, Warren James, Eva Lewis, Rex Leyland, Alexandra Naylor, Hannah Norman, the Daily Mail’s Alexis Parr, James Pimentel-Pinto, Michael Proudlock, Alyssa Sherman, Alexandra and Mark Sykes, Hannah Wick, Bill Wiggins, Rod Weston and Antony Worrall-Thompson. People came from far and wide with Matthew Cranwell travelling in from Whitstable and a whole crew descending from Brighton.

Next year will be the restaurant’s 45th anniversary. Look out for an even bigger and even bolder bash.
