2015 Crabbie’s Grand National

The Tout shares his tips for the 2015 Crabbie’s Grand National and a photo montage of the most ‘classy’ racegoers seen already at Aintree this week

This is the race that seems to capture the attention of a nation. Everyone has a bet and it puts them off gambling for another year as they watch their selection crash out at one of the massive obstacles. The Grand National at Aintree is a fantastic spectacle but The Tout considers it the most nonsensical event to have a wager in. Two flies going up a wall have a better chance of finishing.

Racegoers at Aintree sadly put little effort into dressing appropriately in the 21st century
Inspiration for these outfits plainly came from the Chuckle Brothers
Bizarre footwear is apparently a staple for racegoers at Aintree
This pair plainly thought they were attending a zebra race
These two women provided proof that just about “anything goes”
Whilst this “happy” drunk is sadly now typical of those who flock to Aintree each year
A trip to the races would sadly be nothing without a bit of a ruck
And finally… A photo to proudly share with the grandchildren

What the racing world is praying for is an AP McCoy victory on Shutthefrontdoor at 7/1 for his owner JP McManus. AP has said that if this horse wins he will retire immediately rather than at the end of the season and he would dearly love to do this for JP himself. After almost 4,300 winners and a crushed body the man has given more to this sport than any other rider before him.

The Tout suggests a trip to the races just to check out the Scouse Wonders, electronic tags and hair extensions that will be on display but if you have to wager we suggest the following other than the already mentioned favourite: In order of price, The Druids Nephew at 12/1, Many Clouds at 25/1 and The Package at 33/1. In reality there is a desperation that the dream may come true for AP and JP.

    1. Off with their heads. These pigs should be slaughtered. I am embarrassed to know that they share our British heritage. Their parents should be ashamed for dragging up such dirt.

      • Oh, don’t be so damned sanctimonius, you silly old thing.
The lower orders have a pretty ghastly life and have, through the centuries, let off steam in an over exuberent way. Epsn Downs had a very rough reputation in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The only diffrence is that this century they can afford champagne, rather than gin.

      • Judging by the picture of the ‘lady’ in the silver grey suit,it would appear the parents are ‘getting down with the kids’

    2. No Harvey, my onesie is a Tiger, and I restrict its outings to the annual Motcomb Street Party, where it is always admired

And, my favourite quote from the Great Gatsby……..

‘ If ever you feel like disapproving of anyone; just remember that not everyone has had your advantages ‘
