The ultimate fisherman’s toy is headed to auction

Fisherman’s widows everywhere look away: The ultimate vehicle for pescophiles is headed to auction at RM Sotheby’s forthcoming Hershey sale on the 6th to 7th October.

Offered with an estimate of £77,000 to £116,000 ($100,000 to $150,000 or €89,000 to €133,000) a 1931 Ford Model A DeLuxe coupé is to be sold along with a custom-built house trailer that has served as a mobile sales platform and on-the-road home of J.M. Keely, a salesman of Horrocks-Ibbotson “Best by Test” rods and other marine products in the coastal towns of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

The caravan itself comes with a boatload of fishing supplies, including lures, rods, floats, oars, small outboard motors, and even road maps and letterhead used when the original owner was selling his wares to Depression Era customers. It features a nautically themed interior and includes twin bunk beds, a hooded gas stove with an exhaust fan, an icebox, a sink with running water provided by a 25-gallon tank and hand pump, a writing desk, and cabinets for enamelware cookery and utensils.

Tight lines.
