Not to be confused with the less distinguished wife of a former ambassador who shares the same Christian name and a similar surname, this “Jewish high achiever” is the editor at large of TIME and wrote Amortality: The Pleasures and Perils of Living Agelessly in 2011. Mayer holds dual U.S. and British citizenship and is marred to Andy Gill, the founding guitarist of post-punk band Gang of Four.
