Wally of the Week: David Irving

The Cherry on the Cake – Cherry Hill, Portnall Drive, Wentworth Estate, Virginia Water, Surrey, GU25 4NN, United Kingdom - £30 milllion ($37.5 million, €35 million or درهم137.7 million) – For sale through Christie’s International Real Estate – Originally known as Holthanger and built between 1933 and 1936 – Designed by architect Oliver Hill (1887 – 1968) – Adjacent to the fourth fairway of the Wentworth Golf Course

David Irving’s legal action against the BBC over a programme presented by Jeremy Clarkson represents yet another low for this disgraced historian

On Sunday The Telegraph’s Richard Eden reported that the Holocaust denier David Irving is to instigate legal proceedings against the BBC over a programme about the Second World War Navy Arctic convoys presented by Jeremy Clarkson.

Jeremy Clarkson need not feel glum about having been criticised by Holocaust denier David Irving

Commenting, Irving stated:

“At least half of Clarkson’s script and story is anonymously quarried from my book… I am sending to the BBC’s legal department on Monday a Letter before Action, including a full schedule of 14 passages which I claim were lifted from or based on my book”.

“It is shameful, but, alas, characteristic, the way the BBC overpays its ‘stars’ and gives neither cash nor credit to those who toiled at the coalface, so to speak, 50 years ago. There are limits to how far fair usage can go”.

David Irving is banned from entering Austria, Canada, Germany and Italy. It’s a great shame he can’t be banned from Britain also. This hateful individual who will stop at nothing to keep himself in the public eye is deservedly our most worthy Wally of the Week.
