Lord Heseltine speaks great sense in urging lifelong Tories to back the Lib Dems and defrocked Conservative candidates
Last night, David ‘Uncork The’ Gauke shared a photograph of himself on Twitter “backstage in Gerrards Cross” with Dominic Grieve, Anne Milton and Michael Heseltine. All four smiled, but what it showed is something else – here are four true Conservatives who’ve been chucked to the wind by their former party and our inept Prime Minister, the “spoilt child” ‘Bosie The Clown.’
This morning, on BBC Breakfast, Lord Heseltine followed up with an interview on the BBC. He remarked:
“I don’t want a Conservative overall majority. That will plunge the country into prolonged uncertainty going on into next year… [Brexit] is divisive… It is deeply damaging and if it is wrong on day one, it is wrong on day 365.”
Elsewhere on Radio 4’s Today, he added:
“I cannot vote or support people who are going to make the country poorer and less influential, full stop, end of story.”
Lord Heseltine is right and he is right also to tell Conservative voters to “vote for what they believe in” and “put country first.”
