Broadcaster Andrew Neil showed just how Twitter trolls should be dealt with suggests Matthew Steeples
On Thursday, the journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil was attacked on Twitter by a most unpleasant man from Birmingham.
In a tweet shared with his somewhat limited 213 followers and Neil himself, Jack Stonebridge – whose @yoohoosandman handle is rather appropriately labelled “I’m a disgrace” – rudely stated: “@afneil You’re a cunt mate”.
Neil responded:
“You’ve never been my mate. And now you’re blocked. Which, for me, means you no longer exist. Twatty”.
As someone who is targeted by similarly deranged oddities – the best I got this week read: “You f***er. You are a witch. You should be drowned in the Thames by Rolf Harris” – I commend Neil for answering in this way. Twitter trolls have no place in polite society and should be treated with the contempt they deserve.
