‘The Steeple Times’ urges readers to join the 180,000 people who’ve signed a petition demanding Iain Duncan Smith not be knighted
When Iain Duncan Smith famously announced that “the quiet man is here to stay and he’s turning up the volume” at the Conservative Party conference in 2003, everybody rightly turned off.
Now news that ‘IDS,’ the chairman of Boris Johnson’s leadership campaign and a man best known for ‘Betsygate,’ has been awarded a knighthood in the New Year’s Honours list, there has rightly been outrage at this plainly nepotistic action.
A petition, started by a psychiatrist named Dr Mona Kamal Ahmed, has since been started on Change.org calling for the blocking of this honour. We urge all readers to join those who’ve signed it and we the urge the powers that be to put a stop to this clear example of moral bankruptcy.
