Jim’s regeneration

Will victory in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ relaunch Jim Davidson’s career?

If Jim Davidson were a product, he’d be Marmite. This entertainer polarises the nation due to his acidic style of humour and even after having seen off sexual assault allegations and having won Celebrity Big Brother 2014, he will continue to attract negative press attention.

Jim Davidson was the surprise winner of “Celebrity Big Brother 2014”

Davidson certainly has a colourful past. He has been married five times, was bankrupted in 2006 and was forced to resign as a master freemason in 2002. He is well known for making what The Independent casually describe as “controversial” remarks about race, disability and sexuality in his comedy routines and is often marked as a misogynist, homophobe and bigot. The comedian, prior to entering the Celebrity Big Brother house, himself even commented: “I could cure Aids and give  £1bn to women’s groups and people would still think I was a racist, sexist twat”.

A friend of Prince Charles and a regular on the charity circuit, Davidson looks set to be elevated to new heights by his new backer Richard Desmond. Whilst his “fresh start” might likely end up tarnished with yet more of the inevitable clangers that this father of five is famous for, we do believe Davidson could be on to something in his reinvention. He is the first to have successfully cast off the shadow of Savile after having clearly proven that the sexual allegations against him were false and now most certainly deserves a second – or, as some might see it, ninth – chance.
