Charlie Elphicke’s conviction has attracted much attention, but aside from the exposure of the sheer arrogance of this all-round buffoon, the public should be reminded of those that stood by him for political gain.
Whilst the now former MP and convicted sex offender was rightly removed of the whip in 2017 when allegations were first made against him, it was then unbelievably reinstated in December 2018 before a vote of no confidence in the then prime minister, Theresa May. This, frankly, now can be recorded as an utterly wrong course of action.
This shameful twist in a case of a pantomime villain whom chased women around whilst shouting: “Are you naughty?” should go down in parliamentary legend alongside Mrs May’s own bizarre wanderings in the wheatfields and her jobs for boys and jobs for girls.
