A Taxing Question

A Taxing Question – Take the Taxpayers’ Alliance off the air – Why are the Taxpayers’ Alliance given airtime in the British media when they are not the voice of the taxpayer but instead a lobbying operation for a bunch of rich, shady foreigners?

Why are the Taxpayers’ Alliance given airtime in the British media when they are not the voice of the taxpayer but instead a lobbying operation for a bunch of rich, shady foreigners?

This morning Chloe Westley of the Taxpayers’ Alliance refused to declare how the operation she works for is funded on Sky News.

Yet again proving that this organisation is nothing but shady, this self-declared “well-known face” and former head of social media for the crooked Vote Leave campaign flip-flopped randomly. She pathetically even went as far as to claim: “We get money from lots of places” in spite of the fact that over 60% of its donations come from those giving more than £5,000 and much of that comes from abroad. Westley did not, however, name any of these individuals and also failed to make reference to the fact that this right-wing pressure group’s founder, Matthew Elliott, is also the founder of Conservative Friends of Russia.

Exempt from audit because it is a private company limited by guarantee, the Taxpayers’ Alliance is nothing but a con. That the BBC and Sky amongst others allow its representatives on air is completely wrong. Each time they do, they mislead the public. The Taxpayers’ Alliance is not the voice of the British taxpayer, it is a lobbying operation for a collection of rich, shady individuals and it deserves to be named and shamed as such.
