Reader Offer: What makes art sell? – A panel debate

‘The Steeple Times’ invites readers to attend its first panel debate and drinks reception where the topic will be: “What makes art sell?”

 

On the 2nd December, The Steeple Times will host the first in the series of panel debates for readers and their guests. Our first event will take place at the Library members’ club in Covent Garden where a panel of experts will discuss the topic: “What makes art sell?”

After a drinks reception commencing at 6.30pm, the panel – which will include Nolan Browne of TASCHEN, the photographer Cyrus Mahboubian, the artist Alexander Massouras and Oliver Newton of Koopman Rare Art – will take to the stage at 7pm for a 45-minute discussion with 15 minutes of questions afterwards.

Nolan Browne – Manager, TASCHEN Store London

Nolan Browne is the manager of TASCHEN in London and previously worked at Phillips and the White Cube Gallery. He is passionate about art and featured in the Evening Standard in October 2015 after selling all 264 books in stock to one individual. He told the paper: “I’ve scored some big deals before but we’re even out of bags”.

 

Cyrus Mahboubian – Visual artist, photographer and filmmaker

Reader Offer: What makes art sell? – A panel debateAward-winning British artist, photographer and filmmaker Cyus Mahboubian has exhibited in London, Los Angeles, Moscow and Paris. He was awarded the position of artist-in-residence at the Gate Theatre by the Chelsea Arts Club Trust in 2014 and was compared to Éric Rohmer in terms of his “naturalistic style” later that year.

 

Alexander Massouras – Artist

Reader Offer: What makes art sell? – A panel debateAlexander Massouras is an artist who has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, Multiplied at Christie’s, the Mall Galleries and the American Standard Gallery in Miami. The British Museum acquired two of his works, Camerondius and The Sun King, in October 2012.

 

Oliver Newton – Koopman Rare Art

The Arts Warehouse, Newton’s blog, is extensively followed by those looking to find unusual art and antiques and he is regularly found at international fairs including Masterpiece and TEFAF.
