Picture of the week: A bevy of Cygnets

Spotted in the vicinity of Park Lane

Blatant displays of wealth are not uncommon in Central London. One individual we reported on spent £7.2 million on a number plate and another is selling a 45-bedroom residence for £300 million. This week’s picture of the week shows two Aston Martin Cygnets in separate locations in the vicinity of Park Lane.

The first, captured in the Stratstone Aston Martin dealership would perfectly suit Ollie Locke of Made in Chelsea. Emblazoned with a British flag, it certainly won’t be going to be the home of someone who doesn’t want to get noticed. Alternatively, it might perfectly suit Nick Griffin MEP or a member of the EDL.

Equally, the second Cygnet wouldn’t suit an individual looking to go incognito. Bronze in colour, the vehicle was parked in Lees Place alongside two bicycles of the same hue. We’d suggest that this fleet might suit a member of the cast of The Only Way Is Essex. Both the car and bikes undoubtedly would perfectly reflect their tans.

That someone would spend some £31,000 on one of these motors is ludicrous given that virtually the same car can be purchased for £12,500 in the form of a Toyota iQ. Plainly there are more than a few people out there who haven’t read the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes.
