Designed for the American car collector Peter Read by Zagato Atelier’s chief designer Norihiko Harada, this is a car that is described by its auctioneers as having “a character all [of] its own and a more aggressive personality [than a standard DB9 Volante]”. It has a “snub nose” reminiscent of Aston Martins from the 1970s and 1980s and unique taillights by Zagato to the rear and of it, in 2013, Harada told Forbes:

“[It’s meant to be] simple but strong… I thought it would be nice if the shape of the car reflects the lifestyle of the client. So I started talking with the client and tried to understand his lifestyle or his favourite type of design… With this one, we tried not to compete with the original DBS, we tried to go in a different direction, which is more classic, gran turismo, a nice balance between elegance and sportiness and a lot more romantic”.
