Larging an Auction

Larging an Auction – RM Sotheby’s Duemila Ruote sale, 25th to 27th November 2016 – Europe’s largest auto-themed, single owner collection sale achieves £43.7 million in total sales

Europe’s largest auto-themed, single owner collection sale achieves £43.7 million in total sales

The largest auto-themed collection sale ever staged in Europe concluded this weekend with a total sales figure of £43.7 million ($54.3 million or €51.3 million or درهم‎‎199.4 million).

With the cheapest lot, an Argentinian #C7 Class 3 catamaran at the RM Sotheby’s Dumelia Ruote auction in Milan selling for just £200 ($248 or €234 or درهم‎‎910) and the most expensive, a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C Alloy, going for £2.9 million ($3.6 million or €3.4 million or درهم‎‎13.2 million), the price range of the 817 lots sold was staggering.

The most expensive lot sold was this Ferrari
And the cheapest was this catamaran

The 30-hour auction took up over 200,000 square foot of exhibition space – the equivalent of 4 football fields or 71 tennis courts – and involved just under 100 transport trucks to Milan. 5,000 people attended and amongst them were bidders from 57 countries. Interestingly, 50% of bidders were under the age of 50 and in spite of 25,000 catalogues being printed, 25% of participants bid online.

With everything from a 1965 Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB sedan (£66,700 or $83,100 or €78,400 or درهم‎‎305,200) to a 1973 Porsche 911 S 2.4 (£61,900 or $77,200 or €72,800 or درهم‎‎283,400) that was presented without wheels, there was something for everyone.
