Nicky Haslam wrote fondly of 22 Bury Walk – commonly known as “the Gothic Box” – in his memoirs Redeeming Features. Of what he terms a “romantically dotty little folly,” he recalls spending “one of the most extraordinary periods of [his] youth” there with its then owner, “the equally romantic” Simon Fleet.

Featuring a plaque to the theatrical designer Sophie Fedorovitch (1893 – 1953) – whom died there as the result of a gas leak – the property is now for sale for £2.95 million through Russell Simpson.

The 1,231 square foot detached cottage includes 2 reception rooms, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is described as “charming and entirely unique.”
