Famous! By John Stoddart at Trinity House Paintings, Mayfair, 26th May 2016

Famous! By John Stoddart – A unique exhibition of silkscreen prints produced from Stoddart’s photographic portraits

“There’s going to be a day when no one will be famous for more than a week. Then everyone will have a chance to be famous” – Andy Warhol

Tonight, Thursday 26th May, Trinity House Paintings in Mayfair’s Maddox Street will host the first ever exhibition of silkscreen prints produced from John Stoddart’s original photographic portraits.

Inspired by Andy Warhol and available as limited editions of ten per image, Stoddart uses the works to question the cult of fame. He has been fascinated by the pop artist for many years and similarly has captured many individuals before they came to prominence.

Of the exhibition, Stoddart comments: “If Andy Warhol were alive now, who would he be making silkscreen prints of? PJ Harvey? Mel Gibson? Pierce Brosnan? It’s quite telling that Warhol created Interview Magazine and now instead we have OK!”

The exhibition has been kindly sponsored by Gilpin’s Gin and Red Squirrel Wine.
