The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen or G-Class is the vehicle the company has produced for the longest period of time. The majority of civilian versions are sold in California – in black or silver – and in Dubai – in white – and now one that was originally owned by His Majesty King Constantine II of Greece is to be auctioned with an estimate of £15,000 to £18,200 ($21,800 to $26,400 or €19,000 to €23,000).

His Majesty King Constantine II of Greece (born 1940)

The 1993 GE500 offered was delivered new to King Constantine for use at his ski chalet in Switzerland and later imported to the UK for use in London. Kept at the royal’s residence in Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, it was sold in 2008 and 2009 and now has some 173,000 kilometres on the clock.

Presented in Amethyst Blue coachwork with a black leather interior, this alternative to a Range Rover is described as coming with “copies of the V5’s showing His Majesty’s name and address and an RAC membership card in the King’s name”. It also has a first aid kit and fire extinguisher.

Silverstone Auctions will sell the 5-litre V8 petrol engine vehicle during their 28th May and 29th May sale at the Classic Race Aarhus 2016 in Denmark.
