Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen originally owned by King Constantine II of Greece to be sold

The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen or G-Class is the vehicle the company has produced for the longest period of time. The majority of civilian versions are sold in California – in black or silver – and in Dubai – in white – and now one that was originally owned by His Majesty King Constantine II of Greece is to be auctioned with an estimate of £15,000 to £18,200 ($21,800 to $26,400 or €19,000 to €23,000).

The 1993 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen GE500 offered

His Majesty King Constantine II of Greece (born 1940)

The 1993 GE500 offered was delivered new to King Constantine for use at his ski chalet in Switzerland and later imported to the UK for use in London. Kept at the royal’s residence in Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, it was sold in 2008 and 2009 and now has some 173,000 kilometres on the clock.

Presented in Amethyst Blue coachwork with a black leather interior, this alternative to a Range Rover is described as coming with “copies of the V5’s showing His Majesty’s name and address and an RAC membership card in the King’s name”. It also has a first aid kit and fire extinguisher.

Silverstone Auctions will sell the 5-litre V8 petrol engine vehicle during their 28th May and 29th May sale at the Classic Race Aarhus 2016 in Denmark.

    1. what does ‘Kept at the royal’s residence in Grosvenor Square in Mayfair’ mean. i know the king and he has always lived in Hampstead Garden suburb ?

        • Hi, he still lives in London but spends much time in Greece. The stupid greek gov had refused them entry for years but finally they are now coming to Greece on Danish passports . Not sure whether he has also UK passport. King Costantine is a very nice man , with integrity and thoughtfulness , he has suffered poor health recently . He has raised and kept together a lovely family . I really wish he would be again King of Hellenes , whatever we had after him,as Presidents were greedy uncouth politicians of no merit.

    2. Ex King Constantine came locally to shoot on a double gun day, his loader was chosen very carefully for such a responsible task

Ex King Constantine arrived on his peg – didn’t say good morning – didn’t say thank you once or good bye

      Small details tell one much….

    3. I remember it being parked in Roland Way behind Blakes Hotel in South Ken for several years. His son Prince Nikolaos used to drive the family around in it. When it wasn’t there Nikolaos used to let me park my 550 in it’s spot when I was staying at Blakes which was very kind of him. Funny how we all remember the car being parked everywhere except where the auctioneers say! As for the price, well it has a few miles but because it is blue and has a good provence I reckon it will still make nearer £20k.
