Blackadder star Rowan Atkinson made a colossal profit when he sold his McLaren F1 – purchased for just £540,000 in 1997 – for £8 million in June and now he looks set to cash in again if he achieves the £2.9 million asking price he has set for his Oxfordshire home given he bought it for just £1 million in 2000.
Emptied of its contents following the end of his 24-year marriage, Atkinson has instructed Strutt & Parker to sell The Old Rectory at Waterperry after buying a £4.65 million house in North London. The Grade II listed property dates to 1777 but the majority of the accommodation is to be found in extensions built in the 2000s.
Standing in 6.25 acres and having frontage to the River Thame, the 6,206 square foot property includes 6 bedrooms, 3 reception rooms and an indoor swimming pool. There is a hard tennis court within the grounds and for pistonheads, there is also a four bay garage.
