The problems of perfume

“Alleged Saudi princess” claims to have spent £1 million on perfume in just two months

Sara[h] Al Amoudi is perhaps an ideal illustration of the words of Coco Chanel who once said: “A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting”.

This “alleged princess”, whom property investors Amanda Clutterbuck and Ian Paton accuse of being an Ethiopian prostitute who conned them out of £14 million of properties in Belgravia, Chelsea and Knightsbridge, has now told the High Court that she has “limitless wealth” and has been given £10 million in cash by her family in the last decade.

Sara[h] Al Amoudi: a woman whose spending “allegedly” knows as little bounds as her “alleged identity”

Al Amoudi, whose true identity is key to the case, stated:

“I have a problem with shopping – I go to doctor. In the last two months my perfume, only the perfume – $1.4m [£912,000]. I can show you the pictures”.

“I’m afraid I’m addicted to spending money, and get through enormous amounts of cash. I can easily spend £50,000 to £100,000 in one spree”.

At the suggestion of the judge, Miss Al Amoudi, who arrived at the court in a full burka, a veil and five-inch heels, removed her face covering. This move, however, did not stop her attempting to avoid eye contact with onlookers as she insisted “in the name of Allah” that she was an honest woman. In the witness box, she added:

‘They say I’m a prostitute. It’s not true. I swear to Allah I’m not liar”.

Honest or dishonest, a princess or a prostitute, Miss Al Amoudi is one thing most definitely though: She is a woman whose perfume permeates all that is ludicrous about her.
