The battle of the vanities

An Iraqi medical student and an aspiring actor from Abu Dhabi battle it out for the title “the most beautiful face ever”

Regular readers will recall our having added Omar Borkan Al Gala to our roll call some time ago. He was deported from Saudi Arabia as authorities there deemed him “too sexy” and since, with the ensuing press attention, he’s landed a part alongside Homeland’s Navid Negahban (who plays Abu Nazir in the series) in a short film titled 51.

In an interview for In Touch Weekly, Al Gala revealed that he has received countless gifts and that “offers have been pouring in!”:

“I got a Mercedes G55 for my birthday from a woman I didn’t know… It came to my place, and I was told, ‘Just sign and take it’. That’s amazing!”

Ahmed Angel

Meanwhile, photographs of an 18-year old Iraqi medical student and part-time model named Ahmed Angel have gone viral on the Internet. On his Facebook page Angel clearly states his desires:

“[Ahmed Angel] seeks to obtain fame and influence. He finds intellect and creativity as important as others. Ahmed looks down upon drinking alcohol and smoking. And now I’m a [sic] international star. And the most popular… I love all of you”.

Angel has also created a new term to describe himself. He is supposedly a “planet”. When asked what that means, he responded: “beautiful”.

We leave you with a simple question: “Which one is the vainest?”
