Paul Johnson Calderon: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times asks Paul Johnson Calderon: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times shares “wit and wisdom”. What’s your guiding force?

Wit, cunning and sheer will.

“Don’t get even, get medieval” is, in our humble opinion, a great motto. What’s yours?

Trust no one.

Kerry Katona was considered unacceptable in 2007. Who or what is unacceptable in 2013?

Bigotry.

Tony Blair misses being Prime Minister. What do you miss most in your life?

Dunkaroos & Goosebumps books.

What might you swap all your wealth for?

Not much… However, I suppose world peace and enlightenment.

Donald Trump was once a case of: “If you owe the bank a thousand, they close you down; but if you owe the bank a billion, you own the bank”. What’s your view on the banking crisis?

It terrifies me and I feel like the sky is falling. Quick, to the panic room/bunker/Gstaad, Switzerland!

What phrase or word do you most loathe?

“To thine own self be true”: Sure, sage wisdom, but Polonius said it, and he sucked!

In the UK, some people consider charity to “begin at home”. What’s your view and what causes do you personally support?

I think charity is the highest form of good karma. I think we owe it to ourselves to tackle worldwide problems, like poverty and hunger. I do a lot of work with UNICEF.

The judge in Law Abiding Citizen states: “I can pretty much do whatever I want” before being blown up whilst answering her mobile phone. What’s your view on the appropriate use of such devices?

Mobile phones. Yikes! I despise them, really. The appropriate use of my mobile is, of course, hilarious prank calling and to avoid stalkers.

If you could fill a carriage on The Orient Express, who would be your fellow passengers?

Ryan Gosling.

If you were unfortunate enough to end up on death row, what would be your last meal and where would you eat it?

A J. G. Melon burger, bloody bull (Ketel One vodka) and cottage fries.

What time is it acceptable to consume the first drink of the day?

It’s a free world, baby!

A Negroni, a martini or a cup of tea?

Why, tea, of course.

Whose parties do you enjoy the most and why?

Anything involving Grand Life Hotels, Le Baron, Electric Room, Boom Boom, Interview Magazine, Olivier Zahm, Terry Richardson, Dorrians, and my friends and PR gurus Lisa Raden & Liz Vap.

Who is the most positive person you know?

My mother. She’s dealt with my drama since day one. She’s also the smartest woman I know and the chicest.

What’s your most guilty pleasure?

Chocolate & fried chicken (twice a year max).

If a tattoo were to sum you up, what would it be of?

A medieval phoenix rising from the ashes.
