Tagged billionaire John Goodman allowed to fly to Texas to visit his mother

The case of John Goodman is what the media would term “a gift that keeps on giving”. The “polo king” billionaire, whose reckless driving resulted in a student’s death in 2010, is in the news again this week and this time it’s for getting permission to fly by private jet to visit his ailing mother who is dying of cancer.

Palm Beach sheriffs have allowed Goodman, who remains under house arrest on a $4 million bond awaiting a retrial in early 2014, to fly via chartered jet accompanied by four deputies after originally only giving him permission to travel to Texas on a commercial flight.

This latest twist follows in the wake of such strange turns as Goodman adopting his girlfriend as his daughter in an attempt to preserve his fortune during his first trial and a juror who hadn’t revealed that his ex-wife had once been arrested on DUI charges causing his March 2012 conviction to be overturned. In addition, whilst under house arrest, the tycoon “broke” his ankle monitor and had his bail revoked temporarily in December 2012.

Goodman’s only excuse for what happened that fateful night has been: “I don’t know what happened”. No doubt what happens on the private jet will be just the same.
