Christmas Card of the Year

Sir Benjamin Slade excels himself with an amusing Christmas card celebrating himself (maybe) finally finding an other half

Sir Benjamin Slade, Bt. can always be relied upon to amuse.

Whether he’s on ITV1’s This Morning describing how he’s looking for a “castle trained breeder” (to provide him with an heir) or filming videos of his Labradors driving his Bentley, this aristocrat is always on the ball and delightful company.

Our Christmas card of the year just simply had to be Sir Benjamin’s. It features a picture of the great man on the ‘Great Bed’ at his home, Maunsel House – a residence that has a bar full of amongst other things machine guns – and it is captioned: “Engaged at last?”

Sat upright alongside Sir Ben – in his pyjamas holding a copy of Tatler and accompanied by some weaponry, a chicken and a Jack Russell – is a mannequin. Inside alongside season’s greetings, the lady is announced. Her name? “Baroness Manuela Melita Makowsky Von Lagershausen zu Nehaus.” Shortened, in brackets, she’s simply “Ivana.”

Brilliant. We salute you Sir Ben.

Happy Christmas to all our readers. May you have a wonderful day.

  1. Wonderful I’m the Baroness who is brave enough
to become part of the cookie card
lol yes it is amusing as all confusing names are based on my family and yes
being a aristocrate no need to train me up lol I guess the hunt is over his good name restored
    Merry Christmas

      • This is exactly the intention of a mix-up, the glue is a mixture of German and Russian names

        Background of their ancestors
The British-born princess spent her early life in England and three years in Malta, where her father served in the Royal Navy. In 1889 the family moved to Coburg, where Victoria’s father became the incumbent duke in 1893.
        Saxony Coburgh-Coburg

she bowed under family pressure and in 1894 married a paternal first cousin, Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse,
at the request of her grandmother, Queen V. marriage was a failure. outraged the royal families of Europe when she divorced her husband in 1901.
married Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich in 1905. married without the tsar’s consent. initially denied life in Russia.
They had two daughters and settled in Paris before being allowed to return in 1909. In 1910 they moved to Russia, where she was known as Grand Duchess Viktoria Fyodorovna.

After the fall of the Russian monarchy in 1917, they fled to Finland, where they gave birth to their only son. They lived in exile in Germany for several years and in Saint-Briac from the late 1920s.

In 1926, Kirill proclaimed himself emperor in exile and Victoria supported her husband’s claims. Victoria died after a stroke while visiting her daughter Maria in Amorbach. That is in Bavaria / Germany
Regarding her ladyship, she is theoretically an Hrh with an unusual mix of Russian and german names, which she got from her grandmother
who met and married in the war,

a child of the Russian emperor romanov, who lived under the name MA…when he fled to Germany under the secret contract (bismarck) from 1890 Russian-German

still be that as it may, her ladyhood has an historically deep root of the English ancestor of the blue bloodline, ancestor who was born in UK

Updated, the family name is Von Lagershausen. Her family member was the duchess of the place, who handed the place over to the state

her ladyship was born in germany and grew up between Germany castle neuhaus and the families castle in switzerland

having giving you info I feel to Misuse names for a Christmas card joke is disregard for their rule and family, less it is true that Sir Benjamin and the Baroness are engaged? ……then why the tasteless mannequin, the chicken and dog most bizarre
certainly Sir Benjamin behaves much like a schoolboy who didn’t grow up and now lives in his own little weird world

Question is, are there engaged ?

  2. Hi there,
A friend pointed out to me this funny card with the mannequin, the chicken and the dog next to the gentleman.
Just who is this mysterious brave lady?
many years ago I worked for a lady with blonde, not black hair, whose skin is very light. I’m actually saying an angelic looking lady. If I didn’t know that it was Swiss German, she is easily seen as a Norwegian or Finnish. A real princess, very well spoken (articulated), perhaps with a soft French accent, and yes, she is a real baroness
She was a good boss, with a cool sense of humour ,likes to laugh,
and had this cheeky little girl giggle
If that’s the person I think it is she is well suited only million dollar question are you engaged ? if so my lips are sealed and
Congratulations on this card and the event for both of you!
