Madeleine McCann deserves justice. That’s undeniable but what is utterly wrong is that so do all the other missing and presumed dead children.

That ‘Maddie’s’ supposedly respectable middle class doctor parents – guilty at the very least of child neglect on the basis that they left their children unattended in spite of having the resources to afford a babysitter – continue to attract media attention and have managed to persuade the state to part with £11.95 million (plus millions more from the public) is an absolute outrage.

If this innocent child had been working class would she have attracted such resources? I think not and if, as Janet Street-Porter pointed out in the Daily Mail today, ‘Maddie’ had not been “cute and blonde,” would people still be interested?

Aside from parties in Downing Street with their mate Theresa May and trips on the alleged abuser Sir ‘Shifty’ Philip Green’s plane, Gerry and Kate McCann mostly have spent recent years hanging out with the likes of the charity tin loving Baroness Meyer and her “red socked fop” hubby Sir Christopher. They have drained resources that could have been used to find countless others and it is jolly well time that this pointless and ridiculous search was stopped.
