All at ‘The Steeple Times’ wish readers and supporters a very merry Christmas; Matthew Steeples delves into stories of rotten royals and pugnacious politicians with former MP turned broadcaster Simon Danczuk
Flora Watkins wrote of what she observed to be “the sorry demise of the round robin” in The Spectator’s Christmas special bumper edition. Whilst, in jovial fashion, she enthused about these seasonal “destined to stoke the fire” missives, yesterday, on the afternoon before Christmas Eve, The Steeple Times’ Matthew Steeples did its equivalent of such by spending just over an hour chatting with the ex-Labour MP turned broadcaster and author Simon Danczuk about the news stories of 2025.
Amongst the topics touched upon over a few Moretti beers by the duo in a live YouTube discussion was another article from The Spectator – an until now considered venerable magazine founded in 1828 currently edited by the ex-cabinet minister Michael Gove – about the controversial OnlyFans self-declared “don’t be a slut like me” that is Bonnie Blue. Whilst Danczuk expressed understandable surprise at the choice of such a deservedly reviled and ridiculed young women for a ‘Christmas Notebook’, Steeples suggested it “bizarre” to bring onboard a most generally naked trollop who lauds “Andrew [Mountbatten-Windsor] as a bit of lad” and suggests “I’m a sex worker, but I am also sophisticated and quite elegant.”
A very open critic of ‘Farmer Harmer’ Sir Keir Starmer both on Twitter and TalkTV, Danczuk slammed “the mess” his former party have made of Britain in both economic and social terms and called out his failure as a “disaster’ even. “Starmer is the most unpopular prime minister we’ve ever had in this country,” he added.
Turning to the rottenest of royals, the former prince now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Danczuk and Steeples conversed about the revelation of an email allegedly sent by the late Queen Elizabeth II’s second son to the mendacious mucky madam Ghislaine Maxwell.
Condemning the demand for “inappropriate friends” to be “stupid” and exploring the revelation of the removal of “exceptionally grumpy and angry” Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s shotgun licence, the pair touched on mental health and whether a doctor may or may not have intervened. “No pass for Andrew from me… My sympathies are with the survivors,” Danczuk concluded.
All at The Steeple Times very much hope you enjoy this ‘round robin of an interview’ and though Matthew Steeples has been largely quiet in 2025 after a series of personal matters rather overtook him, we do hope you will support us as we return with aplomb to weeding out woke wazzockery, banishing banal bores and lauding living legends as we move into 2026.
Happy Christmas. May the beverages flow and may the times be merry wherever you may be.
