The Steeple Times wishes readers a prosperous 2016 and reviews some of our favourite stories from 2015

 

Many of you will have woken with sore heads after a night of celebration, but today The Steeple Times wishes all readers a very Happy New Year.

 

Here, with a selection of one story per month, we compile images from a selection of our favourite stories from 2015:

 

January – Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff sent a bizarre email to NBC defending his actions. It won’t make any difference to his life and he will die in jail.
February – The Steeple Times exposed the nonsensical story of Alan and Katrina Lane, a couple from Sandbanks, Dorset, after they falsely told the Daily Mail they were sleeping rough at Heathrow Airport.
March – A Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman belonging to the cannibalistic dictator Jean-Bédel Bokassa, head of state of the Central African Republic and subsequently the Central African Empire from 1966 until 1979, went on sale for £225,000.
April – Davide Boncimino of Mr Fogg’s won La Brasserie’s third inter-bar cocktail competition with an amazing drink made with VII Hills Gin. The event was judged by amongst others actor Lyndon Ogbourne, media personality Nancy Dell’Olio, musician Lettice Rowbotham and Matthew Steeples of The Steeple Times.
May – Serial party crasher David Pun was spotted at a party in St James’s. He featured on our pages several times subsequently along with fellow champagne swillers such as Denis “The Dribble” Doble.
June – The Steeple Times reported that a repossessed house in Cumbria had gone on the market for £3 million despite having no roof. It has still not been sold.
July – Charlene “Miss Piggy” Marshall cashed in and got £9.3 million from the estate of her late husband’s billionaire mother, Brooke Astor. Previously Mrs Astor had referred to her as “that b***h.
August – Michelle “I’m not a victim” Young gave an interview to the Evening Standard in which she demanded that her estranged husband’s suicide be reinvestigated. She was subsequently bankrupted and now claims to know where he hid his non-existent billions.
September – “Turbo ligger” Sandra Shevey was photographed by The Steeple Times’ editor Matthew Steeples at the opening of LAPADA. She continues to rant on Twitter about this still now.
October – Gina Miller of the True & Fair Foundation launched a stinging attack on the “anti-consumer colours” of big brand UK fund companies.
November – A 613 square foot apartment in Queen’s Gate, South Kensington went on sale for the staggering sum of £1.195 million.
December – A Porsche once owned by Janis Joplin sold for £1.1 million against a guide of just £264,000 to £396,000.
