Forcing Fernbridge

It is time to step up Operation Fernbridge

As Max Clifford faces further police questioning and Rolf Harris’ trial hears that he wrote a letter to the father of an alleged victim stating “I know that what I did was wrong but we are, all of us, fallible and oh how I deluded myself”, we again call for greater transparency about Operation Fernbridge – an investigation that appears to simply not be getting enough attention from the Metropolitan Police.

The Metropolitan Police need to devote more resources to Operation Fernbridge

Whilst Yewtree has been dominated by a focus on sordid and often little known 1980s entertainers, some of the names linked to Fernbridge are far more significant. They number politicians, policemen and the judiciary and amongst them is a highly influential popstar known for flaunting their Christianity.

That most alleged victims of abuse at the hands of such people at the Elm Guest House were from care homes speaks volumes as to why Operation Fernbridge hasn’t had the same level of police resources as Operation Yewtree. These unfortunate people don’t have a voice and many remain petrified of the powerful individuals who did such terrible things to them. Some would say “they lack credibility” as many turned to drugs and some have mental health issues but they are wrong. These people deserve justice just as much as the victims of Savile, Hall and Glitter.

The abuse that went on at the Elm Guest House is of great significance. We again ask: “Why are the Metropolitan Police not putting more effort into dealing with this matter?”
