Theresa May’s deal with DUP is dangerous, irresponsible and about nothing other than her personal quest for power

Our Lady Macbeth-like Prime Minister has once again proven her personal desire for high office is all that matters to her. In handing over £1 billion and then posing with the DUP’s Arlene Foster looking like someone who secretly knows the cream she’s served is actually sour yesterday, Theresa May saved her skin but sold Britain into a further period of stress.

Referenced as “shabby and reckless” by Labour’s Lady Nugee (AKA Emily Thornberry MP) and “a pathetic little deal” by the SNP’s Peter Wishart MP, the Conservative-Democratic Unionist Party pact potentially puts the Good Friday Agreement at risk and signals that the Tories are happy to do business with a bunch of bigots whose policies on abortion and gay rights, for example, are stuck in the Stone Age. It is anything but “strong and stable”, could fall apart at any moment and has already left Scots and Welsh politicians again questioning the state of the Union.

Theresa May may have clung to power for now, but with a DUP dependent voting majority that could turn on a whim, she’s still in a very perilous position. How long she’ll actually last still remains very much in the balance.

  1. What is wrong with you people????????????????????? Saint Teresa has saved Britain from Commie Corbin and is MAKING GREAT BRITAIN GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get with the picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get with the picture!!!!!!!!!!!! The DUP are GREAT PEOPLE too!!!!!!!!!! Kick out the illegals!!!!!!!!!!! Stop the fake news!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. so all the people complaining about this would prefer a Trotskyite government and to pay billions to the EU?
This deal was cheaper than the deal Gordon Brown offered the DUP to
remain in government after the Blair / Brown governments bankrupted the country.
It appears the whingerd here wish to live in a totalitarian state or the United States of Germany

  3. Funny how money suddenly arrives to keep Mrs May in power when the NHS is in trouble, police forces are dwindling and our culture is at risk.

    • The NHS is in trouble because it’s lousily managed and has to cope with a population surge never planned for.
We need to slam the door on the wrong sort of immigration: we cannot cope

      • I’d like to know what “the right sort of immigration” actually is and what “the wrong sort of immigration” actually is. No platitudes and generalisations. Specifics please, Peter.

        • The wrong sort of immigrants are:

          * from countries still struggling to exit the Middle Ages
          * so poorly educated as to be unable to contribute to the economic or social development of the country
          * can barely speak English and have no ability or desire to integrate into our society.

To give you just one example of the right sort of immigrant….the Ugandan Asians expelled by Amin who have been such a huge success….
          Hope that helps, Matthew!

        • I have given a cogent rationale for whom we should let in. That, together with this addendum should satisfy.
No other first world country would allow in some of the riff raff we have.

  4. Forget about the DUP’s social policies. The main problem with this alliance is how it could affect the power-sharing arrangement in Northern Ireland.

Things are currently tense, due to Arlene Foster’s refusal to resign over a monetary scandal. This has led to the Northern Ireland Executive being dissolved, and it has been vacant for several months.

In such a situation, the British and Irish governments are supposed to step in as neutral arbiters. But how can the British government be neutral if it has just done a deal with the DUP?

Dangerous move on Theresa May’s part.
